all in all a pretty good tour event and a good primer for the Masters. Plenty of big names get their tune up in for Augusta or for some one last chance to make the Masters Field.
Power Rankings
1) JB Holmes - sorry but this is simply too high and maybe shouldn't be ranked. He might be in contention but is doubtful to win this week.
2) Jordan Spieth - hard to argue with this ranking - he is becoming not only one of the best but also now one of the more consistant weekly.
3) Patrick Reed - despite being pretty much a prick he is on the top of the leaderboard pretty much every week he plays.
4) Ryan Moore - alot of respect here but simply ranked too high. Even if he was to contend he would shoot himself out of the top 10 on Sunday.
5) Jimmy Walker - too low, he should be ahead of Holmes and Moore and doesn't take a back seat to anyone.
6) Brendan Steele - he is garnering more and more respect around the game, a little too highly ranked but with his play lately not very much
7) Matt Jones - can't quite agree with this one, he may be defending champ but with this strong field he is barely rankable if at all.
8) Sergio Garcia - ranked about right, I wouldn't call this too high.
9) Lee Westwood - it's really hard to figure if he is playing well or isn't as he seems to fluctuate from week to week. Ranked a tad high.
10) Matt Kuchar - either hasn't played enough this year or hasn't seriously contended enough - ranked about right - imagine Ryans team if he was his normal self.
11) Bill Haas - about where he should be ranked.
12) Jason Kokrak - I keep thinking he is over rated but he keeps playing fairly well - ranked about right
13) Louis Oosthuizen - Who knows with him - he is a little bit too much of a loose cannon, could seriously contend or simply miss the cut.
14) Shawn Stefani - He is mired in mediocraty this year but this seems like it's too high of a ranking.
15) Phil Mickelson - would never be ranked this low ever in a power ranking in years past but the Phil of old may never resurface again.
Those that deserve consideration
Keegan Bradley - but only since he is a ticking time bomb ready to go off at a moments notice but he is mostly defused though.
Victor Dubuisson - he is still kind of disrespected but I don't mind since I don't like him anyway.
Rickie Fowler - he needs to pick up his game - If he doesn't repeat his major success of last year he will be a major bust this year.
Chesson Hadley - he played well last week and could continue that here
Martin Kaymer - he and Russell Henley are pretty much becoming irrelevant in the rankings lately. Does he ever play well in small events.
Justin Rose - wow how the mighty have fallen - is he pulling a Luke Donald and becoming irrelevant during the mid portion of his career.
Charl Schwartzel - it's amazing how many good players are not being ranked vs some of the questionable players that are in the rankings.
