I just want to elaborate more on the decision for the tier levels and how they were decided. We have had league discussions and I have tried to initiate talks about which events deserve which of the tier statuses. I have always gone with the formula of having 20 tier 3 events, 10 tier 2 events and 5 tier 1 events. This year because the Arnold Palmer Invitation was the only event we did not have as a tier 2 or above that had a larger purse (which was decided by the PGA tour to somewhat counteract the LIV large money) so I naturally added that event as a tier 2 making the breakdown 19, 11 and 5. I couldn't think of an event that deserved to be knocked down so just went with the slight change but that was designated pre-draft. No rules can be changed after the draft unless we have a unanimous vote on something that is agreed to by all 8 teams.
I would say of all of the events that the Phoenix Open is one of the upper tier 2 events and is so because of the field and interest that it generates. Josh and I have talked about this and we consider the Phoenix Open as one of the most fun events to watch of all the non majors and players championship. Many people are tuned into their TV's on Superbowl Sunday so naturally this event is going to be closely watched by many.
