As far as the draft how about some input from everyone.
1) how did you think the draft went overall with the logistics and so forth.
It seemed like this year things kind of came together as the last minutes. As commissioner it seemed like I was behind the 8 ball trying to get things going but i was able to get everything done in time. I was happy that we had almost zero problems getting with everyone getting into the web ex ok this year. Usually it seems like we have an owner or two that has trouble with it. I think I needed to reboot my computer before the draft because it seemed like I was always at a 2 second delay when I tried to post chat messages.
Rich thanks for organizing the web ex meeting as that is much appreciated.
2) From a strategic standpoint how did the draft go for you personally and what surprised you about this years draft?
I felt things went pretty well as I typically don't have 2 top 5 or 10 players in the world. I do like Schauffele and Rahm at the top and Xander seems to have such a high floor and not a bad ceiling either. I was surprised to get Riley and Berger as cheap as I did. I expected to pay about 30 bucks more combined between the 2. I didn't come in thinking I had to get either but when there is value it is hard to pass up.
I ended up with Keith Mitchell again but last year I traded him to Rich. Well Mr. A you do have Burns so I guess we might have to swing another deal, LOL
3) What players were you targeting and trying to get? Which players were you happy to get at the price you got them?
I always like to get Jon Rahm as this will be the 4th straight year I have him. 2 years ago I ended up trading DJ for him and it worked out very well. Believe it or not I think he actually under achieved last year but I paid a pretty penny for him. Sometimes I wonder how dedicated he is especially with being married and having a kid. I did want Taylor Montgomery and got him but I had to use an auction spot to do so.
4) Which players did you wish you would have gotten but the price ended up going too high? Did you get out of the bidding too soon on any particular players?
I would have loved Sam Burns but after having Schauffele and Rahm I wasn't going to have the budget to get him. I don't like to go over 270.00 spent if I can help it.
5) What do you like or dislike about your particular team?
When looking at an 8 team league it is easy to say that everyones rosters should be stacked but with the LIV playing a role I think this years 8 team roster should look similar to last years 10 team roster. There is still alot of talent on the PGA tour and many of the LIV players just kind of seem like misfits or washed up guys. I would have liked to have a little bit better quality for my last 3 auction slots but I am happy with my top 4.
6) Not including your own team what other teams did you like and what other players were really good bargains and maybe went a little too high?
From top to bottom Tim's team kind of stands out as one that is deep. I love Rich's top 3 with Morikawa, Burns and Cam Young. Matt has a nice top of his roster as well with Will, Jordan and Max. Of course that all depends on Zalatoris's health. Former champ but washed up Ryan (just kidding of course LOL) has a nice international top 2 in Rory and Vik. Tom Kim is one of those players that could have a big time breakout this year. I had my eye on him and probably should have been more aggressive.
I don't mean any offense by this but here is who I think was a good bargain and went too high
Bargains
These players I thought were a good deal early - Spieth, Morikawa, Finau and Schauffele
others
Horschel
Homa
Fleetwood (but will he ever truly breakout)
Theegala
Wise
Riley
Berger
These players I thought went a bit too high
Fitzpatrick (but most like him more than I do)
McNealy
Harman (sorry Rich and Ben)
Im (I remember when I had him 2 or 3 years ago when he was cheap but now he is high priced)
Rahm (he is actually over-rated)

Thanks to all for playing. I am going through tough times and having this golf league is a very good thing for me and I love it and really like the texting group we have
