As far as the draft how about some input from everyone.
1) how did you think the draft went overall with the logistics and so forth.
2) From a strategic standpoint how did the draft go for you personally and what surprised you about this years draft?
3) What players were you targeting and trying to get? Which players were you happy to get at the price you got them?
4) Which players did you wish you would have gotten but the price ended up going too high? Did you get out of the bidding too soon on any particular players?
5) What do you like or dislike about your particular team?
6) Not including your own team what other teams did you like and what other players were really good bargains and maybe went a little too high?
7) Other comments

1) I thought the draft overall went well. I know there was a couple of times where owners thought the countdown was too fast and I am sorry about that if I was responsible for that. Sometimes there is a fine line between going too fast and keeping the draft moving. That is always a feel thing and can always be tinkered with a bit either way. I was a little worried at 5:15 whether we would all get into the draft room but we have never had a year to my recollection where this has been a major problem but I couldn't be wrong.
2) From a strategic stand point I wanted Rahm or Hovland. I know I am not typically a Hovland type owner but so many people are high on him this year. I tried for both but would have been forced to spend 1.00 on my last 5 auction players had I done that. The biggest surprise was that the prices went down just a tad this year it seemed for the elite players. The difference was that last year there were eight 100.00 players but this year there were twelve. I think it shows that the elite depth in golf is getting bigger.
3) The players I was kind of targeting not on my team originally were Hovland, Morikawa (maybe), Homa, Finau (kind of), Zalatoris, van Rooyen, Fowler (for really cheap), Burns, Fitz, Henley.
My players that I was happy with were Conners, Wolff, McNealy, Gooch and Herbert. I think Wolff is going to have a big bounce back year and for 33.00 I was very happy. If not, it is not a huge 50.00 plus gamble. Love Conners as he is a rock and reliable but it would be nice if he would win or be in the top 3 more often. Love my 3 dollar players in Gooch, McNealy and Herbert.
4) players that I was outbid for that I wish I could have had (some just a tad cheaper than they went) Cameron Smith, Ancer, Zalatoris, Berger, Cantlay (who could be great value), Hughes, Horschel.
5) My team likes and dislikes - I like that I was able to get a couple of more players that I really wanted than I usually do. I only have 1 truly elite talent in Rahm but I really like my auction depth this year. Burns might be able to fill my #2 but realistically I might have 3 number threes which I am ok with. Considering I spend up to 60.00 less than some teams I am happy how it panned out with a budget roster compared to many teams. I always like flexibility.
6) Other teams I liked. I thought Dan J really did well and I see his team improving in this seasons standings. Hatton is one of those guys that I think most people were down on but for 31.00 there is not much downside there. Homa and/or Fleetwood also were bargains with not much downside. I think there is a good chance that 2 of those 3 pan out.
I believe I heard Ryan say he thought his team sucked. I certainly don't know why. JT, Zalatoris, Berger are a nice top 3 and the rest of that auction looks mighty salty. JT is always kind of a guy I want but always seems to go somewhere else first. EVR is one a hell of a trajectory lately.
Teams that have a monster 1-2 punch
Aaron Tim (depending on if DJ bounces back) Matt
Nothing against any other teams but this is just what stood out to me.
7) Other comments - well about 2 hours after the draft I started to have severe abdominal pain. I have had a kidney stone in the past and my pain didn't go away after about 6 hours so I went to the ER. I did not have a stone. Stones are comparable to child birth and I can believe it because it was horrible when I had one in the past. Of course as soon as I got to the hospital my pain got much better so I forwent most test except for bloodwork which did not show anything bad. I went home and slept most of the day Monday. I have a feeling it was food poisoning because I didn't have any other issues other than very severe abdominal pain. I am feeling good enough to kick some fantasy golf ass this year. Maybe it is just wishful thinking. Ha Ha.

As far as the draft how about some input from everyone. 1) how did you think the draft went overall with the logistics and so forth. well i was mostly responsible for logistics, lol. As you know, commish...you were first to log in/enter draft lobby, an hour/1/2 before the draft. I got sent a link you were waiting, and webex gave me the option to "open the meeting, let you in". So I did...as I figured you would want to get set-up. So I watched Vikings pregame for awhile...and tried to join the draft, and it wouldn't let me. "You are already in meeting", webex said....BUT, I couldn't get back into draft room. So then I'm getting messages that everyone else is waiting in the lobby. SHIT....I still can't get in! So I called you and suggested we get someone else to quickly set up a new draft room..... At about that time...I noticed a little "w" icon in the corner of my homepage, running in the "background". Of course, it was the webex meeting, so I personally finished logging in, and we got started....still before scheduled time, but 20 minutes later than I was going to open the meeting.
So it all got started (ahead of time, I think)... but I was having panicked flashbacks to a couple years ago, when I/Webex last tangoed. (Fiasco)
Eric, thanks for keeping a cool head in our phone conversation(s)....I was near tears, thinking I fucked it all up. And thanks to all of you for remaining patient!
The draft had a nice pace...everyone communicated well, little time wasted, which is important because Sunday is family time for many, and even tho the pace was quick, it still takes a long time.
By now, we're a veteran group and overall it went very well, I think.
2) From a strategic standpoint how did the draft go for you personally and what surprised you about this years draft? Tim & Aaron, get out of my skull! LOL. Last two years...Tim & Aaron and I have gone after (mostly) the same guys. This year, I went HARD after DJ, Rory and Morikawa. I wanted two of them. That strategy was different for me, and I think I was the last "second bidder" on more "top dogs" than I've been in auctions past. I wanted DJ, because whoever owns him, always finishes in the money.
When I didn't get two big dogs, I went back to a strategy of trying to get as many "#2 guys" I could get, knowing some of you spent a lot on the top dogs. I think I did well on that.
I already traded Burns...who many think could be a top dog....but being offered Niemann, who I think could be also (plus I owned him 'first' 3 years ago, I think he could break out soon). That trade could prove to be a huge mistake, but what the hell.
3) What players were you targeting and trying to get? Which players were you happy to get at the price you got them? DJ, Rory, Morikawa. English, Kokrak.
4) Which players did you wish you would have gotten but the price ended up going too high? Did you get out of the bidding too soon on any particular players? I gave a good effort after the guys I wanted.
5) What do you like or dislike about your particular team? I have a ton of potential. I'm gambling on Niemann, Scheffler and Thompson to surprise. (Scheffler wouldn't be a huge surprise)
6) Not including your own team what other teams did you like and what other players were really good bargains and maybe went a little too high? I think everyone had a good draft. Most teams have at least two studs. I think SubSeventy & SandRage had below average drafts (for them) but I say that as they are usually loaded, out of the gate. For awhile at the start of the draft, I thought Dan J was blowing it, but he put together a very solid team, imo.
But ya never freakin know...there are SO MANY talented PGA tour pros, I honestly would not be surprised if any team had a player get SUPER HOT for a month, it could be enough to put any team over the top/win. 7) Other comments Enjoy the PGA, my bros!
