It seems to me that there are many people that are not happy with the league and how it is run and the decisions made about the league either. I have received many complaints this year about rules and so forth and it is starting to get to me and make me no longer want to run the league. I never want to make any decisions that people are not happy with and I try to not make any decisions that will give my team any type of advantage. I feel like regardless of what decision I make someone is not going to be happy.
Maybe it would be better if I took my team out of the running for the rest of the year and just simply ran the league instead of my own team. That way there can be no biases or decisions made that can have any impact on my team what-so-ever. If people want me to stop running the league and have anyone else take over please let those opinions be known now.
I try the best I can to keep the integrity of the league and I stick by the league rules but I am feeling that more people are unhappy than happy at this point and if I no longer have support than my time is probably coming close to an end. I really enjoyed running the league but with the number of people unhappy it makes it no longer worth it for me anymore.

Someone has to enforce them though and you never waiver. Like it or hate it, you are consistent after all these years enforcing the rules and they are what they are.
Will I gripe at times, ABSOLUTELY.
Will others gripe at times, FOR CERTAIN.
I wish there was some leniency at times with things but with leniency comes gray area. With gray area comes controversy.
With controversy comes hard feelings and a bunch of baggage that the league doesn't need.
I am fricken slammed with my sons traveling baseball and worked. I have a minimum 4 days a week at that on top of everything else.
I LOVE IT and I wouldn't trade it but my ability to follow this league has decreased a bit compared to even a few months ago.
It's all good though, you do you and that is why you are good at being Commish. There are no gray areas and you enforce the rules.
Keep up the good work, keep submitting that crusher of a lineup you've built and let the rest of the league try and catch ya.

I am just coming to the conclusion that it is best if I don't have an active team because I don't want to give the impression that I am trying to get an advantage when I am not. It is the only way to prove my point that I am not trying to cheat and I would rather keep my integrity because integrity is important to me. I go by the letter of the rules and many people don't like that. The reason I do is to protect the integrity of the league. I believe people don't believe that and think I am making these rules to benefit me personally which couldn't be further from the truth. I run my team by the rules and believe in rules but some don't seem to believe in them and when I don't budge off the rules people tend to get upset with me.

What has hapened? Frankly, the past two years, while being recently remarried, my wife has lost her Dad, her mom, and her grandmother (just a week ago). I have been basically spending most me time being her rock for support weaving through all this...meanwhile still doing the various things as Dad to my two sons...and quasi-Dad to my nephew and niece...and caring for my own mom, at times. This maybe at times even supersedes my involvement here...but as I have stated before...little things like this league can be a simple, yet profound comfort among all of these weighty yokes we have on our shoulders the other times.
You have always been fair, and a strong presence a Commish. You need not take you team out of the league to validate your stance. We all have opinions, we have opportunities to share tm, and tailor things in between seasons. Likewise...even the closet of friends/family argue and disagree at times...is natural. I do not know what has happened...but I do not know why it should make the Commissioner feel he has to drop his team. Whatever wrinkles have formed, I would thin a little communication should iron things out.

I may have said some things about rules and how they could be improved upon in future seasons but I’ve never been unhappy with the way you’ve run this league,you do a top notch job every year and there is absolutely no way you should drop your team, that’s just a silly suggestion,you rock Eric!🍺cheers!!

I'm not sure what is going on but I'm in the camp that thinks you should absolutely run your team and the league. that is the whole point. The rules have been pretty much the same for as long as I can remember.
Plus I'm in second place. I do NOT want a fucking ********* when I win! LOL seriously though. I have never ever thought you put yourself at an advantage. We pick our golfers. they play and we get points. seems pretty hard to cheat once stuff is in place?

The reason you can field a team and act as a commissioner is because of the rules. As soon as discretion gets involved I think many more situations would arise. It’s inevitable for a couple of issues to come up in a season but over the years those are few and far between. So basically keep up the great work and keep submitting your lineup. I don’t think anyone wants to win with one of the top teams pulling out…. |
