It appears that there will be no cut until after Saturday's round. I believe each golfer must play 3 courses.

You are correct that if Haas did not play or complete his first round your alternate would automatically go in. Even if you had not mentioned it I would catch it when I calculated the scoring and standings for that particular tourney.
But I can understand that it is nice to get that confirmation when deciding who you may or may not use as substitutions.
