If we eliminate the Euro Event next year than we will be down to 33 events on the schedule because I don't really think it's realistic to rely on the Sentry Tournament of Champions on the first week of January. If we start at the Sony every year we would have 5 tier 1's, 9 tier 2's and 19 tier 3's. We used to have a 5/10/20 ratio which I really liked. If we stay at 33 events as the norm I would have no problem staying at the 5/9/19 ratio. We would have some flexibility to look at flipping one more tourney to tier 2 but that is up to everyone else.
I think this weeks Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines should be considered for a tier 2 status. The field seems to be pretty good this week and this is the event that Tiger Woods usually plays(ed) even with his limited schedule. We have so much of our season back loaded with many points available in the second half of the season. I am not saying that we should definitely upgrade this tourney but if we did we could have this event and the Phoenix Open back to back as potential tier 2's towards the beginning of the year. As it is now 5 of our first 6 events are tier 3's so adding this one to the mix would put a few more points up for grabs a little earlier. When I look down the schedule I don't see any other events that scream tier 2 that would definitely move the needle more than this one. Basically we would move the Tier 2 away from Abu Dhabi and smush that tourney like a grape, and give it to Torrey a week later.

There are other pga tourneys as well like the Barbasol and the Reno Tahoe , they may be lower ranked tournaments but I think we all could fill a roster with them

Actually was thinking similar to Dan...this is a great, upper-tier course...and this field is prime. I would say this event is a Tier 2 type event.
It is bad enough having the orange fuckhead currently in the oval office...but if there ever was a second silver lining besides getting him out of Washington, it would be towards getting Doral back on the schedule...sighhhh.

Hey...we tried something new...did not turn out like we thought...but not bad trying. If we were going to do a Euro tourney...you KNOW which week I would say we should do it. I would rather go to the zoo and pork the camels anally, than watch the Valero. Hell, I even think often the week of the Valero there is a women's major/ grand slam event...THAT might even have fun merit for a week.

Well...the New World members of the family; i.e. the llamas, alpacas, vicunas, and guanacos are on board, but the actual camels only will do it on Wednesdays...so that is a hurdle to get over.
