It would be great to have a discussion going from today's events.
First of all I heard it mentioned at the draft the idea of having a $75.00 entry fee instead of $50.00. Since the draft is complete we would need to have a 100% agreement to change the fee. What does everyone think?
As far as the draft how about some input from everyone.
1) how did you think the draft went overall with the logistics and so forth.
2) From a strategic standpoint how did the draft go for you personally and what surprised you about this years draft?
3) What players were you targeting and trying to get? Which players were you happy to get at the price you got them?
4) Which players did you wish you would have gotten but the price ended up going too high? Did you get out of the bidding too soon on any particular players?
5) What do you like or dislike about your particular team?
6) Not including your own team what other teams did you like and what other players were really good bargains and maybe went a little too high?
7) Other comments

It would be great to have a discussion going from today's events. First of all I heard it mentioned at the draft the idea of having a $75.00 entry fee instead of $50.00. Since the draft is complete we would need to have a 100% agreement to change the fee. What does everyone think? I am ok changing the entry fee to $75.00 and that would be my vote. Either way is fine. As far as the draft how about some input from everyone. 1) how did you think the draft went overall with the logistics and so forth. I thought the draft went very well. No hangups and everyone was on time. The draft seemed to go fairly quickly considering how much we had to accomplish. I tried a little more to keep the auction going a little quicker but don't know how it compared to last year. The snake portion always seems to go very quickly. 2) From a strategic standpoint how did the draft go for you personally and what surprised you about this years draft? This was the year that I just couldn't seem to get anyone for value. I wanted Spieth and was certain I wouldn't pay more than last year but that theory was quickly shot down. The prices for the top players just continue to sky rocket in the league. 5 players this year went for over 100.00, Spieth, McIlroy, Johnson, Matsuyama and Day. This might be the first year ever that one owner has 2 100.00 plus players. Even the players that went over 90.00 include Fowler, Reed and Thomas. 3) What players were you targeting and trying to get? Which players were you happy to get at the price you got them? I had so many players that I wanted went over what I wanted to pay. Moore, Berger, Snedeker, Grillo, Knox just to think of a handful. I spend way to much on Spieth and Rahm. I read alot of good things about him but apparently I am not the only one that did. I was hoping to get him for less then 20.00 or maybe just for a dollar so fat chance of that happening. I ended up missing out on a good number 2 this year because of Spieth and part of that is because of my cap discipline. 4) Which players did you wish you would have gotten but the price ended up going too high? Did you get out of the bidding too soon on any particular players? This might be a redundant answer to this question as I kind of did this on the last question. So many players went very high. I was actually surprised Justin Thomas did not go higher than he did. I thought because of his recent play that he would go over the century mark. 5) What do you like or dislike about your particular team? Eventhough I didn't get a good number 2 I think I have several players on my team that I am happy with. Last year I didn't really like my draft after Spieth and Koepka. This year I am missing a very good player but I think I made up for it with players 3-7. Of the players that I wanted that were mid level type players I got most of them I wanted in the snake portion of the draft. I like the young guys with upside and I think I got some of those. 6) Not including your own team what other teams did you like and what other players were really good bargains and maybe went a little too high? Rich's team is the first one that stood out to me as I think this is the best team he has drafted but he might be missing the true #1. Josh with Day and Matsuyama is maybe the best 1-2 punch ever assembled. I think the depth may be an issue especially when it comes to starts on tour. A little to foreign but that is just as he likes it. I was really surprised how aggressive Dan was during this draft. He was responsible for driving the prices up on many golfers. He also has a pretty salty lineup himself. I am guessing for Aaron that last year had to be a rough one and he came out doing his best to make sure there was no repeat of it. The former champ was agressive in getting the players he wanted and once again made sure Fowler was his once again but apparently it almost never happened with the price escalating. Then adding Rose, Garcia and Stenson. Wow that is some fire power. 7) Other comments I was a little surprised that 4 teams spent 290.00 or more in the auction. I think spending over 250.00 is getting into thin ice territory when it comes to managing one's team but we will see how this all shakes out. I actually spend less than I planned to but I am going to really like my flexibility as the season progresses.
Thanks to everyone for being at the draft and making it an awesome experience.

I am fine with the entry fee, no matter what it is. I'd pay $200 even.
1) Draft logistics worked great, really smooth this year and started relatively close to the designated start time.
2) This was an interesting draft. Lot of teams spent a lot more than I anticipated. I projected to spend about $250ish and was close enough for my liking. I love the ability to make moves, trades and pickups, along with subs that I want the extra money. Plus, a set it and forget it lineup for me isn't all that enjoyable. I love the roster maneuvering and adjusting. I have had a lot of success, especially late in the season with pickups helping me make a charge or fend off the challengers. Jordan Speith a few years back and Jon Rahm last year specifically come to mind.
As far as my roster, really happy with it. DJ is my staple and Sneds/Knox/An and RCB I feel give me a formidable top 5. Who knows though, I could be completely wrong too, haha. Feel my depth might be lacking a slight bit compared to normal rosters but that is usually the case if I recall after the draft from a feeling that way standpoint.
3/4) I was a little bummed to miss out on Rose and Koepka most probably. That said, I have them in a different league and so therefore sometimes I shy way from too many of the same players on the rosters. I feel I got Sneds at a great price of $50. Felt I might have overpayed originally for Knox but in looking further, I don't think I necessarily overpayed but I certainly didn't get a bargain. RCB for $8 was probably my best buy, especially with him projecting to have a more full schedule this year.
Also missed out on Berger and Rahm. Jimmy Walker is always a target for me but he went a little higher than I expected, felt I got Sneds at a better value. After DJ, it was more about value for me and feeling that out. I was hoping An stayed on the board for exactly as long as he did, felt that was huge for my roster.
5) I have mostly touched on it already but perhaps I lack a little depth for those tier 3 tournaments but that can still be had with the 3 no drop pickups.
6) I like Tim and Rich's team a lot. Feel they both have firepower and depth. That is how I like to build my teams. I am also high on Koepka too so that might sway someones opinion when looking at his roster. As eluded to earlier, there are many different ways to construct your team. Hard to not like some of the big money spenders teams because they have some BIG NAMES. However, one could argue their whole season rides on them getting some big tournament W's. If that doesn't happen, it could prove costly.
Also teams I think were very aware to get one "big name" on their roster to build around. Some have more but one could argue less strength top to bottom and some just have one and then a lot of mid-tier guys that could prove beneficial.
It will perhaps be one of the more interesting seasons due to the various auction styles that were on display. I like this league a lot and so I think it adds even more intrigue into it. Especially since it was done by multiple teams.
7) I will be curious to see if there are many trades this year. I would suspect, due to some budgets that it is down. I am also curious how the transactions play out. I could see some teams bypassing the $5.00 no drop adds due to budget constraints.
I am sure I will think of more but that is all for now, haha!!!

I am good w/ 75 change.
1) I was happy the draft moved along better this year. Everyone was engaged and prepared. We didn't have a "Nibe" trying to auction/draft 10 players that were not already gone. Although I do miss that part of Nibe haha.
2) I was very surprised someone outspent me this year. I came in with a goal of getting back to what got me a championship and other top 3 finishes and that was going after elite players and building from the top. I tried the more balanced approach last year and it didn't work out. I was very pleased to land 4 big pieces. Going into the draft I did not expect to get Rose, but when I got him for under 80 I considered it a bargain. Originally I had come in thinking about landing Rory but once he went for over 125 it was time to try and get a 2/1 with a Fowler/Garcia combination. We will see how it works out.
3) I am happy to have landed what I consider 4 elite players plus a bunch of other that will play and possibly contribute nicely in big events. That is one more than I had expected coming in so that part was good. It did come at a cost though and we will see how that plays out this year. After spending so much on my first 4 auctions it was all about finding smaller pieces that would help me in smaller events plus finding a few cheaper options for the big events. I thought I did an ok job backfilling the rest of the squad considering the money spent up front.
4) I wanted Justin Thomas but wasn't willing to break the bank for him again. I am not surprised to see him rising to stardom as evidenced by the big money I spent last year on him. As stated earlier I wanted Rory yet again this year. I am just never willing to spend the last few dollars to get him. Some year maybe. IMO An was highway robbery and shocked Josh didn't put him up for auction for his last spot and drive the price up.
5) My weakness is a lack of dollars and can my team produce enough in smaller events? I think so, but we will find out.
6) A lot of bargains that I will miss, but An stood out. Zach Johnson was another. Patrick Reed could prove to be a bargain. I thought almost all of Matt M's team was a bargain. On my team I would say Sergio. He always seems to go cheaper than he should.
I like the diversity of the teams this year. Should be a competitive season. I like Champs squad again which shouldn't surprise. Matt M has a nice team but will need someone to step up and be a lead dog. Rich has a lot of pieces to work with and will rack up points weekly. Josh with his 2 monsters will be a force if they produce in all the majors. His question mark will be does he get enough points in the other events to make it matter? Josh always seems to find a way so I wouldn't doubt it. Eric is the opposite of Josh but with a major star to give him points in the majors. Another tough team to forecast. Dan spent money and has a squad that should produce in all tier events. Curious to see how that works out. Similar to the team I tried last year but with different pieces. Matt Sackmaster went with the "all TV team" but it has a lot of interesting pieces. Tiger is the major wildcard that could tilt any team if he rebounds to his capability. Tim, the guy outbids me for Rory and then follows it up with a steal with Zach. I like this team a lot of regular events and with Rory at the top it is a lot like Eric's team.
I don't see any teams that dropped the ball this year. Should be fun.
Good luck all.

1) how did you think the draft went overall with the logistics and so forth.
I thought the draft went very well. Best so far imo.
2) From a strategic standpoint how did the draft go for you personally and what surprised you about this years draft?
Can't say I'm overly happy with how my draft went. Last year I went with a bunch of mid level players because the players I targeted went higher than my comfort level. Well, it happened again. BUT, the big difference is many of the guys I had targeted for those "mid" level players were going higher than I wanted too. Guys like Sergio and Grillo but then I ended up overpaying for some others I was hoping to get like Berger. There are several players I wish I would have stayed in and gone a bit higher with and gotten them vs sitting back.
3) What players were you targeting and trying to get? Which players were you happy to get at the price you got them?
4) Which players did you wish you would have gotten but the price ended up going too high? Did you get out of the bidding too soon on any particular players?
I was hoping to get either, Day, Rory, Spieth or DJ but when the prices went the way they did panic sets in and I backed off. Or, didn't even dip in it went up so fast. Thinking I could grab a few others. Guys like Rickie, Sergio, Henrik and then I ended up NOT getting them as well. I was trying to balance what I paid for a guy and how much they play. 5) What do you like or dislike about your particular team?
Can't say I'm overly happy with my team. I spent less than I was planning but that wasn't by choice. I just failed to really pull the trigger on a few guys. I have too many "potential" guys imo.
6) Not including your own team what other teams did you like and what other players were really good bargains and maybe went a little too high? I was amazed how many guys went for 130 plus!! Rory, DJ, Day, Spieth and then even after that guys like Reed, Rickie, Thomas, Hideki Bubba going for high 80's and 90's. Will be interesting to see how Aaron, whose team I REALLY like, Josh, Dan and Rich manage their caps this year.

The fee...I don't think $75 0r 80 dollars is a big deal, especially considering it my only golf league, and it lasts for eight months. Only thing that COULD be an issue, if needing to recruit new players to fill in, some might have issues going over $50. No problems otherwise, though IMO. 1) This was the smoothest the draft has run, IMO...shortest time by far. 2 & 3) Well, I had made the decision that I was going to stress a Day-Matsuyama top two...rather than Day-Stenson like I have the past couple. In this, I knew that it would cost me even more, as I am not the only one who has Hideki Love here...or elsewhere. If anything, Stenson usually winds up always being a steal here, and so there was even a very slight chance could have all three. ANYWAY...figured I would need $250 to secure both... (was $249, so was spot on there)...and was/is worth it to me. They both are in my own, natural current top 3-5 guys I cheer for in golf, if not top two. Hell, even my kids as well as girlfriend who all care nothing about golf really, know whom I like. My girlfriend will ask me "How did Hideki do?" It IS nice having him on my team...has been difficult the past couple years having to cheer for a guy on another's roster. Like others here know, and have said...we all have our own methods...and there are pros and cons to each. There are also underlying reasons for certain players being emphasized...at any level. Day and Mats (and Stenson) not only are favorites whom I normally cheer for...but they rarely miss a cut, and even an "average" week still usually gets a Top 20-25 finish. When they are on, they get a Top Ten, Top 5, or even a win. These two are $$$...and also play a lot on this tour...as opposed to if say, Rory and Henrik were my duo, where you might have to wait for them a bit as they pick their tourneys over here they choose to play. So...there IS some practicality in these picks...not just fandom. So, I love my head duo...but added many quality players ---at a bargain, since after those two,I needed some bargains. 4) Well...due to being in the "Nap Room" early due to my emphasis, this doesn't effect me as much as others here. I got my main two I wanted, so I am happy. After that, I could only do so much bidding-wise...went as high as I could with Stenson, couple others, but was never realistic. I admit. .lost track at the end there...got a good bargain, but got my seventh, and forgot An was still there...perhaps will have to fix that. 5) We), obviously I love my top two...but I have a solid team throughout. Regardless of the comments...I should never have received a Top Ten player for three dollars, uncontested. I have had Noren past years...he got injured but has come back with a vengeance. Willett nice add...others. Every year, I know the depth...particularly for the regular/smaller events will be an issue... where I need a bit of Eric's emphasis..and I actually DO do that...including those last three roster spots..I put more thought into those than one would think...but I like the quality on my team. 6) I think this year, EVERY team had some very good picks. As mentioned earlier...I think every player has at least one or two central guys as their core. ...and some good bargains and depth elsewhere. Aaron might be a tad cash-strapped,but he got extreme quality for it. Second year in a row, I love the team and how it was monitored by Matt M. I liked Dan's aggressiveness, and Eric's tenacity to at least get his main couple guys to go with the usual solid rest of his roster. I like seeing Rich get back to some things again. Rich has a ton of knowledge...just think the last couple years he got a little off track testing some different methods, rather than sticking with his own sound perceptions. I think this will be an interesting srason, because I do not see any roster that doesn't have at least some very good potential.

Definitely alright with a $75 entry fee.
1) I think the draft went very well. Everyone was ready to go on time with no technology issues. Couldn't have have gone better in my opinion.
2) Overall, I think I stuck to my strategy for the most part. I needed to have a top guy and this year I chose Rory to be that guy...hope his back is OK haha. Like others have mentioned, it was unreal how high some guys were going for. After last year, I was thinking that was the ceiling for the top guys..but I was proven wrong.
3/4) Very happy with ZJ and Hoffman at the prices I got them for. Honestly, my initial intent was to bid up Zach at the beginning, but once the bidding slowed way down, I decided he was a great buy and stuck it out. Would have liked to pick up Reed, Knox, or Koepka as well.
5) I actually really enjoy my team after this years auction. The past couple of years I haven't been able to say that so its nice heading into the season with some higher expectations. It took me a couple of these to really get the feel for the auction (players certain guys gravitate towards, how much they are willing to spend, etc).
6) Obviously, looking at the few teams with multiple big names, it's hard not to like their team. I think Rich has a great all around team. For the most part though, I think every team has something to be excited about as the season gets underway.
7) I will have to echo what others have said...it'll be very interesting to see how some teams manage their budget throughout the season. Definitely feel trades/adds/drops will be down this year. It'll be fun to see how everyone's strategy pans out. Looking forward to another great year!

It would be great to have a discussion going from today's events. Well from reading the above.... sounds like everyone likes my team! Let's hike this bitch to 200!
J/K.... 50 or 75 is fine... nbd either way. (Ryan if you need some help, the Mafia loans @ prime + 50%)First of all I heard it mentioned at the draft the idea of having a $75.00 entry fee instead of $50.00. Since the draft is complete we would need to have a 100% agreement to change the fee. What does everyone think? Either is fine. As far as the draft how about some input from everyone. 1) how did you think the draft went overall with the logistics and so forth. First time without a hitch, yes? Seems like every year always waiting for one last guy. Thanks again for starting at 2:30 for Dan & I.
2) From a strategic standpoint how did the draft go for you personally and what surprised you about this years draft? I liked seeing some aggressiveness from some of the guys. Dan was really great at going after guys early... and at least making the top guys to go for top dollar. Some others did as well (bid up)... and that's good for the rest of the managers as that 'ices' them for awhile... like Josh had to put the brakes on some mid-level guys he would have wanted.
Personally, before the draft I had planned on two strategies.... 1) Was targeting Rory... seeing how much he was going to cost me... then free-wheeling best I could after that. Sounds like a few others had Rors in their cross-hairs, also. I bid hard for him, but Tim won out. 2) Matt M's last yrs team... where he 'laid back' off the top guys... then moved in hard on the 'just below top tier' for multiple others for a solid overall roster.... was my 'preferred strategy'. Matt's strategy was working all last yr, till Scott/Mickelson cooled off later in the year.
I think what happened (without planning it) was a blend of the two above. Koepka (surprisingly) 'fell' to me early... I was kinda shocked to get him at 75..., so I pushed hard for DJ next, and at least helped make the Champ pay thru his prodigious nose, lol. After Josh got Day/Mats... I was thinking it would be cool to come over the top of him, with DJ/Koepka, for less money. But alas.... Ryan was not to be denied.
After that... after owning Kuch last 1/2 year, I've grown to love him. Top 5 machine, even tho rarely wins. Gotta take Furyk at 40, don't think him being the next Ryder Cup captain will be a distraction. Furyk coming off an injury year, I think he'll continue to be tough in the US/British Opens. Funny thing is, early in Furyk's career I couldn't stand to watch him & that goofy ass swing... but have really grown to respect him.
Was shocked to get Grillo at 55. I didn't know much about him last yr... and the dude kept showing up on leaderboards all last yr. I thought there'd be more of a 'fight' for him. Rodgers.... kinda the same thing/thoughts. Grillo lite. Elated to get both. Hope last years performances were not aberrations.
How can you not love Duf Daddy on your team? Harman/Swafford/Glover give me tier 3 shots & lots of starts, plus all 3 SeaIslandMafiosos from Georgia. Luckily this year, also got the projected ROY, Schneiderjans. Haven't had a promising rook on my roster for a couple yrs, & don't know anything about him, but made him my first choice in the snake, on the come.
DeLaet? all the talent in the world, but apparently a head case (literally). But dammit, if he ever puts it together, it'll be on my watch, lol. I've got too much invested.
One of those drafts, where things just fell nicely. I'm excited.
3) What players were you targeting and trying to get? Which players were you happy to get at the price you got them? I think it would be wise, not to answer this question. Part of a 'multi-year' strategy... I think... is to be as unpredictable, as you can be. Of course as much as we yak at one another, there is going to be some divulgence of who you REALLY like... but I think it helps (during draft day-- by far the most important league day) to be a bit unpredictable as to who you were/are targeting.
So, I'll answer I was ELATED to get Harman in the snake. lol. & thanks guys, for not sniping him from me.
4) Which players did you wish you would have gotten but the price ended up going too high? Rors... I will admit that much. Love the kid.
Did you get out of the bidding too soon on any particular players? Knox. Just didn't have the ammo, left. I have he/Grillo about the same... so happy to get one of them. Would have liked Perez, also.
In the snake portion, really wanted Fitzpatrick and Grayson Murray. 5) What do you like or dislike about your particular team? No UBER STAR... but very solid roster for all three tiers. If Koepka continues his ascension... I'll be ok for the majors/Tier ones. If he steps on his dick, gets hurt... I'm very dereft of fire-power in the majors.
6) Not including your own team what other teams did you like and what other players were really good bargains and maybe went a little too high? Was a little surprised to see Eric get after Spieth, after what happened last yr. But actually, figuring you 'own the guys in the wrong year'... it was prolly the right strategy! Aaron is stacked, Ryan & Josh always find a way, Dan has a solid roster, esp if Bubba performs, both Matts are sneaky-solid -- looking at them doesn't wow you, but would not be surprised if they contend. Finally Tim's is the roster I'd most want to trade with.
Solid draft by all, and truly anyone could win it. The level of play in the PGA is that tight. Who's gonna make the most putts? 7) Other comments I should draft buzzed, more often. Had 4 Stellas down before my second selection.

When I was bidding for Spieth and he got out of hand as much as he did my entire body just kind of slumped over with what I ended up paying for him. I felt like it was a very bad move when I ended up buying him and I was very close to letting him go. I don't know if anyone is worth 148.00 but if I had to get stuck with one player at that price I am glad it was Spieth because of the elite golfers he is by far my favorite. Golf is just too unpredictable to spend that kind of coin on one golfer but ironically I nearly ended up spending the least amount of cap as any team with the highest price guy on my roster. I just could not get anywhere close to a good #2 as all the golfers just kind of slipped away with the prices skyrocketing this year. I do many auction leagues and this league is the most difficult auction that I participate in. I never seem to be able to get a good handle on the auction and have the money to have the team that I would like. I do use cap discipline to a point because when it comes to subs I want the option to be able to use 2 or 3 every week if I need to.

I do use cap discipline to a point because when it comes to subs I want the option to be able to use 2 or 3 every week if I need to. That's the thing that I like about having up to three subs. Provides the strategy of loading up on "mid-tier" players during the draft. As I said before, I've used that strategy, but had bad luck as you need one or two of those guys to have a good year. Matt M nearly pulled off last yr.. I don't know if that was his 'strategy', or the sick kids that were distracting him that draft, made it necessary (I'll give him the benefit, it was strategy For instance, I had Walker, Watson & Haas one year. (3 just off top-tier) Thought it was pretty good, but all 3 sucked, and none of my lower-mid tiers nor my lower-lower mid-tiers, did a damn thing. So I really enjoyed Matt M's team doing well, last yr.... as that was my 'strategy', that 'worked'. As for Spieth, my opinion only. Best damn putter I've ever seen, at that age.... hell, at any age. Truly remarkable. And putting is so key. I'm truly interested in seeing how he rebounds after his phenomenal year, two years ago. Feel good in that I think he'll rebound somewhat from last yr's letdown (for him). If he does (rebound)... he'll be worth your sizable investment. Plus, you put together a good team after that. Horschel is due for a good yr, as well. Plus, Jordan's got his own shoe, now. "UnderArmour" AirJordan's! F*ck Nike, right?!

Iām good with the fee hike. Donāt remember who/how to payā¦.
1) how did you think the draft went overall with the logistics and so forth.
This was the most difficult draft Iāve ever been apart of. The timing with a playoff game involving āThe Team That Shall Not Be Namedā proved challenging. I knew this would be the case so I refrained from drinking throughout (which is unprecedented).
2) From a strategic standpoint how did the draft go for you personally and what surprised you about this years draft?
I thought my strategy going in was fine. Get one dude for around 100 (I knew/thought Reed is disliked and figured Iād probably get him) and save up for below mentioned players. Obviously my execution of said strategy fell just a little short of a Mark Sanchez Butt Fumbleā¦. And smelled similar.
3) What players were you targeting and trying to get? Which players were you happy to get at the price you got them?
Some players I was hoping to get at a reasonable price were Berger, Knox, Rahm and some others to a lesser extent or I got. As mentioned I wanted Reed (who I really donāt like that much either) and Tiger. Holmes and English a little also. Wanted Hoffman cheap but didnāt get to the keyboard quick enough due to some type of distractionā¦. Probably alcohol withdrawal.
4) Which players did you wish you would have gotten but the price ended up going too high? Did you get out of the bidding too soon on any particular players?
Berger, Knox, Rahm. I may have had enough money to get one or more of them, but got flustered with I put a questionable 41 bid on Moore. I donāt know what happened, but that was the bungle of my draft. After that I got as flustered as Sergio with a lead. I started getting anxiety about getting āTransaction Anxietyā later in the season, then every available wheel came off my strategy-mobile.
5) What do you like or dislike about your particular team?
I like the upside. Better than last year I think and the previous. Also as Aaron statedā¦ the TV-ability it provides. I like watching the tourneys as much as anything.
6) Not including your own team what other teams did you like and what other players were really good bargains and maybe went a little too high? Obviously I like teams that spent the most, they look cool. I like Erics squad relative to the price and what Iād like to have done. English for 3 was a good deal.

" I knew this would be the case so I refrained from drinking throughout (which is unprecedented)." "Wanted Hoffman cheap but didnāt get to the keyboard quick enough due to some type of distractionā¦. Probably alcohol withdrawal." Draft with me next year, sisyphus. I've got the alcohol/pick ratio down pat.
