I am hoping everyone else in on board with this idea but I think we should completely scrap the idea of ever including the Olympics in our golf league again after this season. It is not a sanctioned PGA Tour event and Zika virus or no Zika virus the field is kind of a joke. Only so many golfers can be in the event for each country and as high as American golfer participation is in our league the summer games do not include the best golfers in the world by a long shot going up and down the field. I would venture to guess that half the field consists of players not on anyones roster prior to the add/drops for the competition. I refuse to add Dimbiquai Amarbrovilique to my roster from Zimbabwe.

I couldn't agree more. The field is a joke and shows you how big of an event the PGA players view it as. Sure zika this and zika that but when the top golfers in the world aren't participating, it shouldn't carry much weight because clearly it doesn't with them.

Well...commitment already for Golf in 2020 in Japan...if things are not considerably different, I don't believe we will see golf in 2024. However...Zika isn't even the biggest reason -- scheduling is. They have 3-4 years to figure it out, but if they scrunch up all the majors and WGC events again, the Olympics will lose. Majors and other big events are the main priority for pro golfers ( well, save for Van Zyl, lol). Nobody wants Bridgestone, Open and PGA all within a four week span. They can also sove that Bridgestone issue with the Euro event in France while they are at it. Is this a Tier 2 event (Olympics) this time around?

I will be at least as interested in the John Deere classic as I am the Olympics. I hope some of the golfers that decided to not go to Brazil do end up playing in the John Deere classic and it's field ends up better than ever. I agree with McIlroy in that I really don't have much of a desire to watch golf as an Olympic sport. I am used to the traditional Gynastics, Swimming, Track and Field etc. I normally like to watch the sports that I don't watch much except for the every 4 years that they matter. The only sport that I really follow every year that I also like in the Olympics is hockey. Basketball doesn't do much for me because it's the dream team who always comes in as an overwelming favorite. Who cares if the U.S.A win the basketball gold. It's the hockey that has the tradition and of course the miracle on ice which to this day probably remains the best story in Olympic history but for sure U.S. Olympic history. I actually hope some fluke player that we never heard of wins the Olympic Gold in golf.

I agree Eric, it has been a real disappointment to see all the names drop out of it.

I love that Rickie, Bubba and everyone are really embracing the honor of being in the olympics and making the pussies who skipped, including DJ hopefully fell like asshats. Oh and how about this quote from Kuch, LMAO

Well...I don't know if it sucks ( afterall, might be a precursor of how the Ryder Cup will go )...but it IS something special, and I applaud the attitudes...especially Fowler who has had a rough time of it. Bubba and Kuchar...even Reed are not bad...just not right up at tip top contending for a medal. Saturday should be an interesting day to jockey for medal contentions. Henrik doing what I expected...he and Rose were both the two I thought would be right there.

I have to say it was pretty cool to watch Sunday. The emotion and the interviews too. It took them a bit to realize just how cool it was to be an Olympian and represent the home country but you could tell it sunk in with all of them. When, Kuchar said he didn't realize how amazing it would feel to finish THIRD, you could tell it sunk in. Then the emotion on Rose's face at the end. Very very cool.

I agree...think maybe a few who passed maybe wish they hadn't. I think with four years, and at least perhaps better preparation as far as scheduling events so so many big tourneys including majors do not get so bunched together within a month's span, etc. I think 2020 might really be big, and all those who qualify, likely will choose to attend. Hideki certainly should...could you imagine the backing he'd get, and if he won?
