Aside from maybe Augusta National there isn't a tourney that I would call better than this one. This tourney has it all and on a championship course that is the ultimate in risk reward. Traditionally I love this tournament and love the island green hole #17 which is up there if the most famous certainly within the 10 most famous holes in golf. The whole course is great but the last 3 holes are an outstanding way to finish. On Sawgrass 17 if anyone pulled a Jordan Spieth yips session like on hole 12 at the Masters they could go from a 4 shot lead to 4 shots back before they even knew what hit them.
I would love to see one tourney a year on a couse so risk reward that a player would have to be at the top of his game to win. Something like a 400 yard par 4 where water lined both sides of a fairway that was 15 yards wide for the majority of the way from tee to green. Something that would really test someone's nerves. How about a green with not a bunker in the middle of it but a pond in the middle of it. Yes that is right, a pond in the middle of the green. I don't know who would design that course but I would love to see it. Something so crazy that a golf audience would never tune away because of the craziness that would unfold any and every minute. No lead would be safe. Have a 230 yard par 3 with a peninsula green surrounded by water on 3 sides and the only bailout being long. The tee shot would be wet if it didn't carry 220 on the fly. Crap like that would be amazing.
