I sent the "contact" email address an inquiry but thought I'd ask here too. Maybe someone would have some ideas for me.
My father in law is the one that got us tickets for Friday at the Ryder Cup. Golf is basically his life. But, he has been having some health issues with his legs and just can't walk very long right now. We don't know if it will get better or if this is just age catching up? He is thinking he may not go with to the Ryder Cup this fall. But, does anyone know if they have golf cart options or other options available? He has a handicap placard. Not sure that makes a difference? I just want to make sure he goes.
His plan to travel and golf different courses after retiring has gone straight to the crapper with the health stuff. Sadly started getting worse and worse about a year after retiring too.
Looking for options/ideas.
Thanks

I am getting the sense after reading a little that it is different per venue and up to the course to determine best but found this. www.rydercup.com/europe/news/ryder-cup-2014-disability-policyThat was the last one and read about half way down in the "What is Event Mobility? Can I bring my own scooter?" section. Hopefully the course will offer something similar and be able to help you. I know it doesn't help a lot and I am sure it what you already knew but good luck.

I had not seen that, thank you. I will be curious to see if we have something similar here? I have to imagine they will. Hopefully they respond to my email inquiry.
he is a perfect example of "do things when you have the chance." He thought he was going to travel and play a bunch of courses he always wanted to play when he retired. Those lower legs and feet are changing all that unfortunately.
He has been looking forward to the Ryder Cup for a couple years now. That, and the Solheim Cup is at his home club in 2017, Des Moines Golf.

They responded. They don't have the same program the Euros do but you apparently can bring your own scooter and other options. Here is the email if anyone else is interested. Thank you for reaching out. We will have ADA shuttles onsite to help in transportation around the course. This is a volunteer based committee that will drive golf carts to help transport those who need help. There will also be a handicap only parking lot located down the street from Hazeltine if your father would require an apparatus to help in mobility. The PGA does not provide wheelchairs/scooters, but he may bring his own if that is required. We will have buses transporting from that lot to the course. That parking map and transportation plan will be up on www.rydercup.com in the next few months
