Without even looking at the field I am guessing this is going to be a very poor group of golfers playing in this tourney between the Memorial and U.S. Open.
Rankings
1) Billy Horschel - Don't quite agree with this one. He is so inconsistant but at least when he is right in contention he has a knack for winning. Problem is he is not in contention often.
2) Dustin Johnson - I don't know if he deserves this or not but he should be ahead of Billy Boy.
3) Ryan Palmer - for whatever reason Bolton will pull out Ryan Palmer out of his bag and rank him high out of nowhere and he ends up being wrong almost everytime and will be again here.
4) Webb Simpson - He is not playing well enough to deserve this ranking at least not until he proves that he is truly back.
5) Phil Mickelson - of all the tourney's why does Phil choose this one. He is pretty much a has been now and shouldn't be ranked this high almost ever.
6) Shawn Stefani - really, this must indeed be a very weak field.
7) Harris English - showing some very slight signs of improvement but I am not ready to see him ranked this high, down him about 10-15 spots.
8) George McNeill - has been pretty good lately but I can't agree with this high of a ranking for him.
9) Jason Bohn - these rankings are taking the look at the kind of field that would be in Puerto Rico.
10) Chesson Hadley - another head scratching choice.
11) Jamie Donaldson - the desperation continues to try to get good players in the rankings this week.
12) Will Wilcox - this is about the hardest I have laughed all year after seeing a player ranked at a certain spot. Move down 50-100 spots.
13) Brian Harman - Rob you are really having an off week. Sober up get some rest and try this again tomorrow.
14) Cameron Tringale - At least the 7th straight player that wouldn't sniff the rankings with a decent field.
15) Camilo Villegas - this might be the worse top 15 in the rankings this year at any event. Is the field just that bad or is Bolton that off his game.
Those that deserve consideration
Steven Bowditch - normally this slightly chunkier and slightly more homely look a like version of Keegan Bradley does not get mentioned here but he just won and this is a very weak field.
Brendon de Jonge - He should definately be ahead of some of these chumps being ranked.
Luke Donald - wow has he fallen, can't even make the top 15 in this field.
Matt Every - should probably be ranked
Matt Jones - again should be ranked ahead of some of the losers ahead of him.
Russell Knox - hasn't been tearing it up but who would you take Wilcox or Know?
Brooks Koepka - really strange, I mean really strange that he is not ranked.
Jason Kokrak - does Bolton just try to get him wrong every week. He ranks him when he shouldn't and doesn't when he should.
Charl Schwartzel - Aaron do you still not want to trade him. Even if you did there probably wouldn't be many takers. He might even be worse than Keegan Bradley this year.
My suspicions were realized. This is a very weak field, so weak that I think I might take the entire Web.com tour to beat them this week and maybe the LPGA tour as well. That doesn't include the Senior PGA tour because I hate that tour. They should eliminate it from the face of the Universe. Nothing like watching a bunch of old foggie has beens golfing. There is a reason there is not a senior NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL because people don't want to see old people play sports.
My top 5 - honestly this is going to be hard to do this week because so few are worthy
1) Dustin Johnson - He must have really messed up choosing this event this week but maybe he wanted a good shot at a win.
2) Brooks Koepka - Hasn't been playing real well but top 5 is not an accomplishment this week.
Ok I am stopping here. No one else is worthy enough to be mentioned in a top 5 so I will keep it at a top 2
