The power ranking are out on their usual day.
1) Jordan Spieth - It's difficult to say that Spieth has struggled but he hasn't been on fire either lately. I may bump him down to around #5.
2) Hideki Matsuyama - He hasn't seemed to play much lately so has a hard time keeping up his hot streak. I will move him down a few as well.
3) Kevin Na - Sorry I am not buying this one at all. Even if he would contend he would choke on Sunday anyway. 2 Asians in top 3.
4) Brooks Koepka - Did Bolton wake up and suddenly realize that he won Phoenix and think it was last week. Problem is that was 4 months ago and not much has happened since.
5) Bill Haas - He is a good golfer but hasn't been top 5 much at all lately if at all. Bump him down 10 spots at least. 3-5 is a little head scratching in these rankings
6) Dustin Johnson - finally Rob gets one right. He could actually bump up a spot or three.
7) Justin Rose - this one seems about right. He has played well here in years past.
8) Matt Kuchar - third entry in a row for sub seventy. Still hasn't been playing well enough long enough so I will bump down a few spots.
9) Rickie Fowler - hasn't played since Sawgrass and has a propensity to play well now in big events. I think he should be higher, maybe way higher.
10) Chris Kirk - a really good golfer that is coming off a win. He can really play when on his game. Cannot argue this one at all.
11) Ben Martin - has been good lately. I have been on his bandwagon lately. This ranking is not a bad one.
12) Kevin Kisner - don't know why he withdrew last week but he needed a week off. He has been pretty good lately. I don't have a good feeling about him this week
13) Russell Henley - He has been good for awhile now. He could definately finish this high.
14) Jim Furyk - the old guy keeps rolling.
15) Ryan Moore - hasn't played for a couple of weeks. he seems to be slightly trending downward. Is good at this event. Probably wouldn't rank him this week.
Others deserving of consideration
Keegan Bradley - Bolton is off his jock like he should be. Keegan is horrible. he cannot put 4 good holes together in a row let alone 4 rounds.
Jason Day - Wow not even ranked. Bolton along with myself are off the Day bandwagon right now.
Bill Horschel - He has kind of been an afterthought this year so far.
Jason Kokrak - Wow Bolton is finally not ranking Kokrak, what is wrong with him.
Phil Mickelson - other than Augusta is his career pretty much done?
Patrick Reed - Is he on a downtrend. Was really hot earlier in the year.
Tiger Woods - has good success here. May be overlooked this week but I think he might put it together this week. My weekly hunch. That hunch didn't work out so well for Harris Suck-ing glish.
The field isn't too bad but not quite as strong as to be expected. Alot of Euros and Internationals seem to be absent.
My Top 5
1) Rickie Fowler - I would have never picked him 2 months ago
2) Dustin Johnson
3) Chris Kirk
4) Tiger Woods - hunch pick of the week
5) Hideki Matsuyama
